YODY BLASS

Yody Blass, M.A.

Yody is a native Northern Virginia resident, and the Director of Companion Animal Behavior. She has successfully treated thousands of pet behavior cases since 1990. She received her Masters degree in Psychology from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia, and completed an internship in Animal Behavior in Colorado. She obtained her Bachelors degree, also in Psychology, from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. In addition to graduate courses in Animal Behavior, Ethology, and Neuropsychology, Yody also completed two programs at Cornell University, “Solving Feline Behavior Problems” and “Solving Canine Behavior Problems”.  Prior to her work as an Animal Behaviorist, Yody worked in the field of behavior modification for people, specializing in weight loss and smoking cessation programs.

She has presented material on pet behavior problems to many groups, including the Animal Welfare League of Arlington, Pet Sitters International, Siamese Cat Rescue, the Humane Society of Loudoun County, and local Dog Park advocates.

She currently lives in Leesburg, Virginia with her daughter, three dogs, and two cats.  Over the years, she has had dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, birds, fish, and chickens. She has a special affinity for studying mixed species interrelations, and in addition to the human-animal bond, enjoys observing the interactions and bonds created between dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, and horses.  As the Director of Companion Animal Behavior, she has developed and taught an intensive training program in animal behavior to local qualified individuals, who have been able to become consultants in her busy practice in the metropolitan D.C. area.
